One Factory, Different Cutting Requirements
Not every part needs to be cut in the same way.
A thin stainless-steel component may be a good fit for laser cutting, while a thick structural plate could require plasma or oxy-fuel cutting. Waterjet may be preferred for certain materials or applications where a different cutting process is needed.
For manufacturers working with several technologies, this can create a programming challenge of its own.
- Different materials may require different cutting processes
- Sheet thickness can influence technology selection
- Some jobs may be better suited to laser, plasma or oxy-fuel
- Waterjet can be useful for a wider range of materials
- Tube and profile cutting brings another set of requirements
